The New Moon in Virgo
The New Moon in Virgo arrives with a gentle invitation to come back to ourselves.
After the buoyant, expansive energy of summer — where routines tend to skip out of the window as we embrace spontaneity, late nights and long, lazy days — this New Moon offers us the opportunity to reset.
Virgo is the sign of the goddess, and she reminds us that the little things we do every day can have a big impact on how we feel. This isn't about perfection, restriction or creating a life so structured that there's no room for fun. It's about asking: What actually helps me to thrive?
What habits, rituals, foods, movement practices and routines help you to feel like the healthiest, happiest version of yourself?
The New Moon is also a beautiful moment to take those dreams that floated in during the summer — when we had more space to fantasise, imagine and wonder — and begin bringing them down to earth.
Virgo is practical magic.
So rather than simply dreaming about the life you want, ask yourself: What is one small, practical step I could take towards making it real?
And with this shift into Virgo comes a gradual shift in the seasons too. We're beginning to move away from the peak of summer's yang energy and towards the quieter, more yin phase of autumn and winter.
How can you begin to turn the velocity down a notch now, so that you move into the final part of the year feeling nourished and nurtured, rather than burnt out and on the brink of a breakdown?
A few Virgo-inspired wellness reminders:
Come back to routine. Supportive rituals create a container for the things that matter; a regular yoga practice, earlier nights, nourishing meals or simply getting back into a rhythm can do wonders for our energy and
Nourish your digestion. As the seasons begin to turn, you might naturally start craving warmer, more grounding foods. Think warm salads, roasted vegetables, nourishing soups and light dahls rather than endless iced coffees and ice cream.
Take stock of your energy. Have you pushed and played a little too much this summer? Or do you still have plenty in the tank? Answer honestly. If you're feeling depleted, how can you begin to restore some of your vital energy? (Yin yoga and yoga nidra are still my go-to duo when I'm running on empty.)
Watch the inner critic. Virgo is Mercury-ruled, and this energy can sometimes tip into overthinking, perfectionism and self-criticism. Can you use this New Moon to refine your routines without trying to perfect yourself?
And finally, some journal prompts to bring you back home to yourself this New Moon:
What small changes would have the biggest impact on how I feel?
Which habits are genuinely nourishing me, and which ones are draining me?
What dream from the summer am I ready to start making practical?
Where can I let go of perfectionism and embrace progress instead?
Happy New Moon, loves.
